This reminds me of a very interesting experience I had in GameStop several weeks ago.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">why bother posting that much if you weren't going to tell the whole story?

Because I was looking through my earlier posts to see if I had posted the whole story before either here or on the white board.

Anyway, this was when the AvP figures first started showing up in GameStop. I went by there one day, and they had just gotten a fresh case of them in; it was still sitting on the floor.

I asked the guy at the counter if we would open it so I could get Grid, Battle, and Elder.
Apparently, I wasn't the only one interested in the guy opening the box, because one person was standing directly behind me. He wasn't after the same figures I was, so we both got what we wanted after the employee opened the case.

I thought it was an interesting situation because it made me wonder what the other guy's thoughts on collecting were. I didn't ask him, though... in fact, we didn't even say anything to one another.

ive lived by that from the beginning. and its really true that youll benefit more from not ripping people off. ive created friendships with other collectors who follow that way of collecting and they have been able to hook me up with numerous figures for cost that i would have otherwise not have found.

Deep down their hearts, they don't give a shit what the other collector's think or do. If he does care, it's mostly out of idle curiosity or ego matters. He satisfies his "wants and needs" first, then maybe extend a helping hand if a fellow collector ask for help.

This be another side of the same damn coin. You understand, don't you?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Sounds like you're describing a scalper. I believe true collectors benefit more from helping others than not. True, if I want something I'll get it for myself first. That's only logical. But I find myself picking up stuff for others that I don't collect and they do the same for me. Creating friends and alliances only extends my reach for my collection. (which technically is a selfish motivation )
